Mezzogiorno
by Marco Zanella

This project can be seen this year at Circulation(s), which takes place from March 21 to May 17 in Paris, France.
The full program is available here.

Mezzogiorno, which means “midday” and “south”, also refers to southern Italy. In this long-term series, which results from his wanderings through the region for 10 years, Marco Zanella presents a renewed and personal vision of the area, far from
preconceptions. In his photographs, landscapes marked by economic insecurity, unfinished buildings and rituals meet and collide. The artist reveals paradoxes and opposes time and space, light and shadow, myth and reality.
Without aiming for comprehensiveness or certainty, he tends to show a fractured, fragmented, yet vivid reflection of contemporary dynamics. This project, with its strong introspective feel, anims to shape a new visual and politically conscious language where anthropology and sensitive tension meet.
