Thunder
by Nathalie Bissig

This project can be seen this year at Circulation(s), which takes place from March 21 to May 17 in Paris, France. The full program is available here.

What did people think when they heard thunder? How did they explain to themselves the natural phenomena that were beyond their control? Nathalie Bissig (born in 1981 in the Canton of Uri, lives and works in Zurich, Uri and Ticino) explores her own habitat. Archaic and mysterious, her works evoke the impact and violence of the nature that surrounds us and, with it, the fear of the unknown and the unpredictable. Drawing on rituals and mythological tales from mountainous regions, the artist’s work invites us to enter intermediate worlds, where both the sinister and the miraculous become possible.
