500mt Around Me
by Chiara Pavolucci

The project 500mt around me was born from my explorations of the area surrounding the house where I’ve been living for a few years, near the natural reserve of the Savio River and on the outskirts of Cesena, a typical Italian provincial town. Through the practice of walking—as a performative mode of personal reappropriation of the territory—I develop this work, which originates from the convergence of multiple interpretive layers, seeking to offer an intimate reinterpretation of the ordinary elements that shape my everyday life. An analytical and documentary language intertwines with a form of experimentation that opens the door to the dreamlike, where elements of various natures become part of a magical and surreal tableau.

The different visual levels emerge from an at times obsessive attempt to exhaust the narrative potential of this limited area and, in a spontaneous way, they communicate with one another like the flow of thoughts that marks the rhythm of my walking.
