LAB CURATORIALE PER AUTORI EMERGENTI- (Italian Speakers)

Il laboratorio, alla sua ottava edizione, è un percorso curatoriale dedicato ad artisti/e visuali che operano con il medium della fotografia.
Nel laboratorio gli autori e le autrici svilupperanno un loro progetto, strettamente seguiti dal curatore di Yogurt, così da creare un linguaggio personale che si prefigga di avere una valenza contemporanea.
Si andrà dall’ideazione della tematica alla creazione di una solida idea progettuale.
Sono previsti incontri dedicati all’editing del progetto e alla visione di case history di riferimento, per arrivare alla costruzione di una narrazione stratificata e profonda che sviluppi appieno le potenzialità di ogni autrice o autore.
Le autrici e gli autori saranno inoltre accompagnati nella creazione di un proprio dummy digitale, sono quindi richieste nozioni base di Indesign.
Il Lab è aperto solo a progetti in fase iniziale o che verranno pensati appositamente per il laboratorio.
Al termine, il progetto di un autore o autrice verrà scelto per diventare un libro, disegnato ed edito da Yogurt Editions.
I partecipanti verranno selezionati per portfolio e colloquio.

Dal 2021 è Direttore Artistico di Charta: a photo-book festival. Il festival di Roma dedicato al libro fotografico e alla fotografia contemporanea.
LAB FOR CONTEMPORARY DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY – (English Speakers)

This workshop aims to develop and finalize photographic projects in their early stages or planning phases. Participants will be guided by photographers Jean-Marc Caimi and Valentina Piccinni to personalize their visual vocabulary and build solid planning and practical skills.
In addition to project finalization, the workshop’s output includes creating a dynamic layout for various purposes, such as book creation, participation in photography competitions/grants and festivals, and submission to different press outlets.
The most outstanding project will be selected to be published, designed by Caimi & Piccinni, edited and produced by Yogurt Editions, and launched at Les Rencontres d’Arles 2026.
Photographers/authors will receive support in all stages of work realization, including:
-Analysis and definition of the work’s foundational idea
-Comparison with other authors, influences/suggestions
-Identification of photographic and extra-photographic elements for storytelling
-Research and analysis of opportunities and feasibility
-Planning and methodology of fieldwork
-In-itinere control of material and editing as a creative tool
-Final editing and creation of dynamic layout
-Analysis of project outreach opportunities
Participants will be selected through portfolio review and interviews.

TUTORS
JEAN-MARC CAIMI & VALENTINA PICCINNI
Jean-Marc Caimi and Valentina Piccinni collaborate since 2013 for documentary and personal photography projects. They focus on contemporary subjects, paying particular attention to the human aspects of each story. Their work is regularly featured in the press and media worldwide, and their projects have been exhibited and awarded at several international festivals.
They have published six books, the most recent being ‘Fastidiosa’ (for Overlapse) and ‘En Présence De L’Absence’ (for Éditions Bessard). Previously, they published the trilogy on cities in transition, which includes “Güle Güle” (for André Frère Èditions) on Istanbul, “Forcella” (for Witty Books) on Naples, and “RHOME” (Mas Matba/Fuam), which was shortlisted for PHotoespana Best Photobook of the Year 2019. “Güle Güle” received a special mention at the Kassel Dummy Book Award 2019, was a finalist at the Luma Rencontres Dummy Book Award in Arles, and was shortlisted for the Arles Author Book Award 2020 and the Prix Nadar 2020.
They provide intensive mentoring both in photography schools and by following photographers individually, working together to develop the idea and realisation of a photographic project through to the design of the dummy book. Several of the curated projects have been finalists in prestigious awards such as the Kassel Dummy Book Award, the Fiebre Dummy Book Award and PHotoespana.
