Mario Capriotti’s project Sedimenti begins with the idea that the sea plays a fundamental role in our daily lives, whether directly or indirectly. One need only think of its influence on the climate and temperatures, on tourism, fishing, and the vital natural resources it holds. The Mediterranean, in particular, carries a strong symbolic value, in addition to having been the cradle of civilization for centuries. Preserving such an essential resource is crucial, as is studying its identity—especially in relation to the coastline and the environment.
Capriotti explores the geography of the area, the processes of erosion, and the structure of the coastline itself. He also sheds light on ongoing scientific research along the northern coast of Brindisi, presenting studies, models, design plans, and the forms of breakwaters through a narrative that weaves together scientific documentation and poetic interpretation.
