New Paris is an ongoing body of work surrounding my family in rural Ohio. Through photography, I explore themes of love, loss, birth, death, divorce and regret. While this work involves friends, family and community, I predominantly look to my mother, who returned to New Paris following the failure of a 30+ year marriage with my father, to my sister, who is adopted and one of the only people of color in our town and family, and to my grandfather, who has spent his entire life living in New Paris.
