“Becoming is the artist’s world experienced with openness and receptiveness – a world understood beyond preconditioning and oppression. Exploring themes of identity, perception, and transformation this project reflects on how personal experience shapes the way we see the world – and ourselves.
Inspired by Jack Babuscitio’s concept of the gay sensibility, I engage with the idea that queerness, shaped by social oppression, also offers a unique way of seeing, one that embraces authenticity beyond imposed social norms.
This series is both a reflection and a personal journey—an experience of realization, actualization, and becoming. Through my lens, I document moments of self-discovery, capturing the fluidity of identity as it shifts, unfolds, and resists definition. The images reject rigid narratives, instead offering glimpses into the quiet, often unspoken process of self-actualisation. By using analog photography and leaving the images unedited with light leeks, slight marks and grain, I encourage the viewer to accept the image in its purest form, raw and unfiltered.
Becoming is not just about transformation but about recognizing the power of perception in shaping who we are. It is an invitation to see beyond limitations, to embrace a more expansive, liberated existence, one where identity is not fixed, but constantly forming, dissolving, and emerging anew.”
