Running Away Into You

by Mário Macedo

“Early in my youth, I started being afraid of loosing my memory, a fear sparked by my late grandmother’s alzheimer. I found solace in photography, which allowed me to create a sort of diary, processing time as it went by and remembering. ‘Running Away Into You’ comes at that moment where I had to start over at 30, after the breakup of an almost decade long relationship, and it grasps the fleeting moments of my twenties, between the various European cities I lived in, a sort of compilation of my first steps into adulthood (or perhaps the denial of it). Funnily enough, it’s my awareness of how, looking back, I kept running away.”
