Pollen

by Nicole Schwartz

Pollen blends nature and gesture to create images that resonate on an emotional, almost subconscious level. Soft tones, otherworldly textures, and shifting perspectives draw the viewer into a space that mirrors the delicate flow of memory and experience. In this work, I explore the intersections of nature, memory, and change, and how the fragile processes of the natural world reflect broader shifts in our environment and our interconnectedness with it.

Entering my thirties has made me more aware of time. How aging, loss, and change touch everything around us. It’s led me to question how we all experience the passage of life, especially in a world marked by division and tension. These images are my way of processing those thoughts and emotions: a means of escape and a search for meaning and magic amid transformation.

The photographs are about more than capturing beauty; they’re about connection. Just as pollen moves through the air, these images travel and transform in the viewer’s mind. They invite reflection on our own lives, memories, and experiences, creating a shared emotional space. Pollen evolves with each encounter, just as we, too, are constantly evolving, shifting, and finding new meaning in life.
