UFO Presences

by Javier Arcenillas

UFO presences is a unique and entertaining project about the places where UFO sightings are believed to have occurred and how these sightings have transformed towns, roads, and cities, turning the legend into a part of everyday life.
Restaurants and tourist attractions are created that capitalize on alien stories and exploit the myth of what supposedly happened at Area 51 and Roswell. The psychosis and missiles of the Cold War imbued this subculture with alarm and fear of alien invasion, creating B-movies and artistic movements that are still present in the collective imagination today.
The project, which conceptualizes the UFO phenomenon through images, maps, and graphics, offers us places where these strange apparitions have entered a unique subculture, imbuing them with a singular energy and changing the patterns of society. The exhibition’s research is combined with a dynamic photographic narrative that offers technically impeccable images and a purely photographic aesthetic framework.
