The Bliss of Girlhood by Kristina Rozhkova

30,00

As adults looking back on childhood it can be hard not to see how fragile and finite a period it really is. In The Bliss of Girlhood, Kristina Rozhkova, engages with a group of local girls (or are they young women?) showing them as crystalline through abstraction and gesture. How the girls are photographed reflects both the nearness of maturity, but also the feather-like delicacy with which they inhabit the world. Care, attention and intimacy between the friends all seem fleeting as Rozhkova reminds viewers of the inevitability of growing up and moving on. The work shows a time where change feels too close, too shallow and too inevitable and this type of beauty feels like a season nearing its end.
